Weekly Goals

Happy Sunday everyone. I hope your day went well today.

So, I did pretty well on my goals for last week. I did do pilates, I enjoyed time with family and my new blog is almost ready. It will be ready by New Year. Remember that I will post the link of my new blog on the 31st.

My goals for this week are similar to last week's goals.

On unrelated news, here's something you guys should watch. This young man, Uudam, is singing a song, dedicating to his deceased mother. The song, in English, is called "Mother in the Dream". It is a really beautiful song that is sung in Mongolian on a Chinese version of America's Got Talent. His voice is so powerful and it really touches everyone's hearts, including mine. Watch and listen to it .You won't regret it.

That's it for now. I hope you guys had a great weekend.

Do you guys meal plan?

Weekly Goals

Happy Sunday everyone! How are you guys doing today? I'm doing fine, thank you very much. It's been a while since I last posted a Weekly Goals post. I've been so busy with school but now I have more free time due to winter vacation.

I was so happy that I was able to do pilates yesterday. It hurt so good! I haven't done pilates in a while and I realized how much I miss it. It's a real core workout!

Anyway, here are my goals for this week.

Yes, I will be moving over to my new blog on January 1st. I will post the link on December 31 but the blog itself won't go live until the strike of midnight. I am so excited for my new blog. I've been working so hard on it since winter break started.

That's it for now. I hope you guys enjoy the holidays!

P.S. The total number of miles I've done combined with running/elliptical this year is 940 miles! There is still a week and a half left until the new year but this is an update on my mileage.

Weekly Goals + Elf4Health Recap

Happy Sunday everyone! How are you guys doing today?

This post is going to be a really quick one since I have studying and a project to work on.

Last weeks goals were pretty much simple. I did review some Spanish the past week, which was pretty cool. My friend gave me a new workout to try. He's an exercise maniac! I did study for my chemistry exam, which was a lot of fun. And, I tried to smile more. But it was hard yesterday because I watched a sad movie for one of my classes.

Here are my goals for this week.

As for my Elf4Health Recap, here were the challenges for this week.

  • Monday: Handwritten Note
  • Tuesday: Eat the Rainbow
  • Wednesday: Makeup free
  • Thursday: Workout buddy
  • Friday: Operation Beautiful
  • Saturday: Fridge and Pantry Purge
  • Today: Gratitude List
I pretty much did all of the challenges this week except for yesterday's challenge. We did go grocery shopping, if that counts! I also was unable to do operation beautiful since I was busy with classes and working on the project. Other than that, it's been a good week. I'm enjoying these challenges! We get our new elf buddy today. My elf, Danica, has been great! We talked about the challenge and discussed how we would be completing it.

Weekly Goals

Happy Sunday everyone.

I hope you guys are doing well today. I am assuming that most of you had a long break and now, there's either work or school tomorrow. Don't worry. It's life.

Last week's goals weren't too bad. The chemistry exam is pushed back until tomorrow and I have been studying like crazy for it! I enjoyed my Thanksgiving with my family. We had a family potluck and we walked around the downtown area, which is nice. As for yoga, I am incorporating yoga stretches after my workouts but I haven't had a full on yoga session.

Anyway, here are this weeks goals.

I have a chemistry exam tomorrow and then another the 11 of December. Then, the final is on December 16. It's on a Monday. I also have a big group presentation on December 12. Things are coming up quickly!

I went to Starbucks yesterday and I got this while working on that same group project I mentioned. It's the Greek yogurt with honey parfait and it was delicious. And, I'm also going again today for a study group for the chemistry exam on tomorrow. This is the life.

That's it for now.

Weekly Goals + my weekend

Happy Sunday everyone. How are you guys doing today?

Well, I'm doing fine, thank you very much. I'm just here to pop in and talk about my weekly goals!

Last week, I set three goals:
  1. Don't drink coffee
  2. Ace my exams
  3. Make hummus
  4. Unplug from technology
I feel like even though I call these weekly goals, some of these goals I still want to work on in the long term. I don't want to depend on coffee and caffeine for energy all the time. I did drink less coffee the past week but I still ended up drinking coffee. I prepared well for my exams, and I've yet to get the results.

I did make hummus this week in class and it was decent. We had a faulty blender when we made hummus. There was a hole in it and when we poured all the ingredients in, some of the olive oil came out! We had to  switch blenders, which meant we added a little too much olive oil since we didn't know how much escaped.

As for unplugging from technology, it is really hard now-a-days to unplug from technology. People are always checking their phones for emails, texts, facebook, instagram or whatnot. It's better to just enjoy life and take things as you go. Emails, texts and those stuff can wait.

Now, here are this weeks goals.

Now for happy news, I watched The Hunger Games: Catching Fire yesterday. I watched it with mis amigas. It was such a great movie.

Image from http://geeknewsnetwork.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/hunger-games-catching-fire.jpg

I will review the movie later. Jennifer Lawrence is an amazing actress. However, Josh Hutcherson is mine. ;)

Adios! I'm off to study for chemistry now.

Weekly Goals

Happy Sunday everyone. How are you guys doing today?

I'm doing fine, thank you very  much. I've just been studying for exams this week. I'm typing up this quick blog post before going back to studying.

The past weeks goals have been successful, in a way. I did try a new workout this week, which was great. It's nice to change things up sometimes. I tried a new HIIT workout. As for eating, I ate healthy except for dessert. Dessert is my weakness! As for the goal, "focus on the positive things in life", things haven't been so positive but I turned those negatives to a positive. It's good to look at the bright side of things sometimes.

Anyway, here are this weeks goals.

So, how is your weekend going?

Weekly Goals

Happy Sunday everyone. Here's a quick post of my weekly goals. Before I post it, here's a review of how last weeks goals went.

I did study chemistry. That is what I did most of this past weekend! Unfortunately, I didn't reduce my stress because of it. However, I did get more sleep in, by taking naps. Naps are fine but they just make me feel lazy.

Here are this week's goals.

Well, I guess that's it for now.
Here's a picture of some foods I bought.

I'm becoming obsessed with pasta!
Also, I've been listening to songs from when I was younger. Aly & AJ, Jesse McCartney. Their music is awesome. It brings back memories. Rush, Do you Believe in Magic, and Chemicals React are a few of my favorite songs from Aly & AJ. Beautiful Soul is my favorite from Jesse McCartney.

What have you been obsessed with?

Weekly Goals

Happy Sunday everyone. How are you guys doing today?

I'm doing fine, thank you very much. I started off my day with a short run. I planned on running 8 miles but then something came up, so I was only able to get in 4.6 miles. I'll just run the remaining on my rest day on Saturday or fit it in during the week. Remind me about that, you guys!

Here's a recap of last weeks goals.

As you can tell, I did start writing more blog posts. I hope I'm not bombarding you guys with them! I also wrote a Fitness Friday post. It'll help me keep track of my workouts better. It'll keep me accountable. As for my last goal, I ended up eating more chocolate that I should have. That means I'll have to limit my sweets for this month (and the next).

Anyway, here are this weeks goals.

I don't think my goals make sense this week because all of these contradict each other. I know I have to reduce stress but chemistry is stressing me out. And, I need to work on chemistry but it'll take time away from my sleep. I'm doing my best to find a balance and I hope I do. The stress is really affecting me physically and mentally.

Anyway, that's it for now.

What are your goals for this week?
Do you have any other tips of relieving some stress?

Weekly Goals

Setting goals is something that keeps me going. It makes me feel like I am actually doing something productive or useful. I don't know about you guys but that is how I feel. It's that little feeling of accomplishment that keeps me going.

Anyway, here's how I did on my goals for last week. I did incorporate more yoga stretches into my routine. I did some yoga stretches after workouts. Yesterday, I did my own yoga session, while playing music from Yo-Yo Ma. It was relaxing. It really does help. Even if you are short on time, stretching after a workout is important!

On the other hand, I've yet to learn to play one part of the Final Countdown. I just haven't had the time too. It's sad because I've been trying to learn to play the song by ear since my freshman year of high school! Then again, I haven't been consistent with learning how to play it. Life, school and other things kept getting in the way. As for the the posting recipes, I am getting there. There are two more recipes that I will post today. I hope you guys like fudgy cookies and egg souffle.

Here are this week's goals.

The past week, I also tried something new from Fluid. It was a Japanese Eggplant Empanada with some goat cheese, pesto and other veggies. It came with a spinach salad with strawberries and balsamic vinaigrette. It was so good!

Have a great week, you guys! Have a safe and happy Halloween! Enjoy your candy but not too much. ;)

What are your goals for this week?
Do you plan on going trick-or-treating for Halloween?

Weekly Goals

Happy Sunday everyone. How are you guys doing today? I started my day off with an eight mile run, so I am doing fine.

My goals were partially met this week. I have been so busy. My two music goals were partially accomplished. I went further into learning more of the pieces (I am playing it by ear, so, it can get complicated). I usually learn to play the pieces on piano first and then I play it on cello. It is easier for me that way.

I did hang out with friends more this week. However, I did not do much yoga. I really need to incorporate more yoga due to the muscle tightness I have been feeling.

Anyway, here are this weeks goals.

My goals are quite simple this week.

I have also been having thoughts about some things about self-image and confidence. As you know, there is a controversy about the photo Maria Kang posted. She is a local to my area. The controversy made me me think about how we should view ourselves and to set our priorities. I will talk more about this another post but it is something to think about.

How was your weekend?
What are your goals for the week?

By the way, I found Skippy's All Natural Cream Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter and I just had to buy it. I also bought a Winnie the Pooh shaped bottle with honey. Here's a picture!

Weekly Goals

Hey hey everyone. How are you guys doing today?

I'm doing fine, thank you very much.

I've been so busy! I attended the 24th Annual Envisioning California Conference on Friday. Yesterday, I attended a Teen Health Meeting, which I got to meet Assembly member Roger Dickinson. There were so many things I wanted to talk about with him but I could tell he was in a hurry.

Anyway, my weekly goals didn't go so well this week. Well, not as well as I hoped. My running was fine. I did take it down a notch. I wasn't able to read a book this week since I've been so busy and stressed! However, I did start playing the cello again. Oh, how I've missed playing it. I attended my friend's bass recital Thursday night and it made me miss playing the cello! My friend was in orchestra with me the first year of high school.

As for the studying, I've been so stressed with so many things, I wasn't able to study as much as I've wanted to. But, I did study. It's important and it's always my number one priority. Getting a college education is important!

So, here are this week's goals.

As you can tell, half of my goals this week is playing music. I've been so busy with school that I've forgotten how calming and relaxing playing music can be!

For the Final Countdown and the Chinese song, I've been playing it by ear. The video you see is the video I'm basing the Final Countdown off of. The other song, I'm literally playing it by ear.

Well, I guess that's it for now! The pasta primavera recipe will be up soon!

Do you play an instrument?

Weekly Goals

Hey hey everyone! How are you guys doing today? I'm doing fine, thank you very much. I ran my first half marathon today and it was awesome! My time was 2:01:48. 2 hours, 1 minute, and 48 seconds. I'll talk more about it later in my next post.

I'm so sorry for not posting a top of the week the past week. I've been so busy! I'll have 2 tips in my next post to make up for it!

Anyway, my last week's goals went fine. I did rest up for my half and it went great (I was aiming for 2  hours flat though). I did learn to relax and I did my best with my meal plan.

Here are this week's goals.

Weekly Goals

Hey hey everyone! How are you guys doing today? Today's post will be short because I have tons of work to do. So, I ran 11 miles today (unlike the 12.8 miles last week). I'm going to cut back on running a little bit this week so that I will be ready for my half-marathon run on Sunday, October 6, 2013. Wish me luck!

So, here are this week's goals.

Those seem like simple goals, right? Well, wrong! When times get stressful, it is hard to remember just to take a few deep breaths to calm down a little. You really get in the moment.

As for the running, I love running. It'll be hard to cut back on running. But, I do want to rest up a bit before the big run so that I can get the best time I can get!

As for the meal plans, I guess that's self-explanatory. It's called college life.

Anyway, there is one more thing that I want to bring up. Yesterday, my family ordered fried rice from a Chinese restaurant (don't judge because I'm Chinese!). It was suppose to be a salted fish and chicken fried rice. While scooping some of the rice into my bowl, I saw a peanut in my rice. I'm not allergic to peanuts but I was surprised to see one. How did the peanut get into the rice in the first place?

Restaurants need to be more careful when preparing food and cleaning everything they use. It's very important, especially since there are people that have food allergies (and you don't want to get sick either). Someone who is allergic to peanuts may think that the rice was okay to eat and start eating it. But, with that peanut in the rice, they could have an allergic reaction. Reactions vary from mild to deadly. Restaurants really need to be careful and learn more about food safety and sanitation.

I wonder if that restaurant has anyone that is ServSafe certified.

Anyway, that's it for now!

How's your weekend going?
Do you have any tips on race day?

Weekly Goals + Half Marathon Training Update

Hey hey everyone. How are you guys doing today? It's a fine Sunday, isn't it? Well, it was a great day for a run. But, it rained yesterday. Oh, the rain.

Anyway, let's recap on my goals I set last week. I actually completed all of my goals. I'm so happy. I did study for my chemistry exam. I did create a new schedule. And, I did improve my mile time this week. My long run was actually today. I'll talk more about that in a bit. But, first, here's this weeks goals.

So, today was a course preview run. I decided to go, so that I can get a feel of the course before the actual run. We all met up at 7:30 am and it was a bit cold (since it rained yesterday). Thankfully, there wasn't too much mud. There were two options: 11 miles or almost a full half (12.5 miles) . I opted for the longer run.

We started running around 7:45 am and it was exciting. I didn't know what to expect, especially since I haven't ran with a group for such a long time. The course was great. However, I didn't expect a couple of huge hills along the route. What was great was that I was ahead of most of the group.

For some reason, my best time was today too!I think it was due to the excitement. I was so happy. Me and two other people (Lynn and Russ) ended up getting lost near the end, because we didn't see the arrows marked on the ground. We found our way back. We still finished ahead of most of the group. It ended up running 12.8 miles, in 2 hrs and 2 minutes. I have to say, I was impressed with myself!

They had coffee and pastries for our post-run meal/snack. I ended up just going home and making myself a whole wheat peanut butter and jelly sandwich with coffee.

Anyway, that's today. The past week was also cool too. I got to do homework, study, and hang out with friends. Work was fun too. I spent half the day selling root beer floats to raise money.

On Tuesday, my cousin and I went to eat at the school's restaurant. This is what I ordered.

It was sweet potato fries and a grilled veggie sandwich on focaccia bread. It was delicious! They really stuffed the sandwich with veggies.

On Wednesday, I went to Fluid and I ordered coffee and their new egg white spinach breakfast sandwich. It was on a homemade biscuit. I hadn't eaten a biscuit in so long. It was so good! I also ended up eating some ice cream from the root beer float sale.

And, here are some other food of the week:

I've been obsessed with trail mix! I love trail mix.
I made a pizza with a whole wheat tortilla.  I added marinara sauce and cheese.

This is new. I haven't eaten a peanut butter and jelly sandwich in a while, so I decided to buy a healthier jelly!

And look what I bought yesterday. I bought a hello kitty lunch box (to put my lunch in) and new running shoes (for after my half-marathon).

Well, I guess that's it for now!

How was your weekend?
What are your goals for this week?
Do you prefer running with a group or yourself?
- Personally, I like running by myself. It see it as "me" time. But, it's fun to run with a group once in a while.

Weekly Goals + Other random things

Hey hey everyone. How are you guys today? I know that this post is being posted a bit later than usual but I had a pretty busy weekend! I went to Six Flags con mi familia and we had so much fun. And, I didn't let my trip cut my run long short, which I was tempted to do.

Anyway, I pretty much kept up with my goals last week. I did my best to do some yoga stretches throughout the week. I even did a full yoga workout yesterday for my rest day ("active" rest day). I did my best to stick to my schedule. That's how I'm able to keep track of everything and get everything done. And, for the last part, I did that. Smile and be happy. Just smiling when you're sad can really change your sad mood. It's surprising how one smile can change things!

Here are this weeks goals.

And, now, here are some random foods!

My family bought these pure protein bars from Costco. They are pretty good, in my opinion. There is a bit of a protein powder taste to it but it still tastes good. They're nice, chewy and filling.

I also bought the Naked Smoothies. They are so good! The Berry Blast smoothie and the Green Machine smoothie were awesome! There was also a Mango one that was good but I like these two better.
I saw these Balance Dark Chocolate Peanut bars at my school store while looking for a snack. The words dark chocolate and new caught my attention. I just had to try it out! Chewy and chocolatey. That's all I can say.

I know packaged food is bad but if all else fails, here's what I bought. I bought a Turkey Whole Wheat Pita. I read the ingredients list and it was definitely whole wheat. I wanted something sweet, so I indulged and bought a Fiber One brownie. It was actually pretty good. I hate to say that I bought soda but I did. I don't drink soda much but when I do, it is always that kind, the zero calorie kind. Pretty much, it's best to NOT drink soda. Ever. There are just so many negative effects it has to your health!

Anyway, I guess that's it for now. I pretty much had a great week and a great weekend. I did get my hair permanently straightened (it's suppose to last a year) and it took 5 hours! I know, that long. But, hey. At least my hair is easier to manage now.

How was your week?
Do you have any goals?
Do you like roller-coasters?

Weekly Goals + Random Things

Happy Sunday everyone. As you know, Sundays are my long run days. I ran the half-marathon distance again. The last mile was hard, but I pushed through. I also noticed that since I drink water every two miles, my stomach issues have gone away. Hydration is important!

So, let's recap on my goals for last week. As you know, I took some boot camp classes, which was really fun. I completed that goal. I was unable to take a Zumba class though. Hopefully, I can soon! I'll also will create a schedule today, since I am taking a lot of units this semester.

So, here are my goals for this week.

The past week has been very eventful, as I've said in my last post. I also had some great eats too. Take a look.

I tried this iced cinnamon latte from ecogrounds, and it was alright. There was just TOO much cinnamon in here for me.

I refueled after my boot camp class with Jamba Juice and a kind bar. The Fruit & Nut Delight kind bar  was delicious!

This sandwich was awesome. Pesto, chicken, provolone cheese, tomatoes and some greens. All the flavors just melted together.

That's it for now. The next post will be about comparing two foods. Keep an eye out for it!

Weekly Goals + Training Updates

Happy Sunday everyone. How are you guys doing today?

I'm feeling pretty great today. I finally ran the distance of a half marathon for my long run. The last few miles were torture but I made it through. I finished it in 2 hr 9 min 57 sec. I'm so proud of myself. My legs and feet are so sore though. I guess tomorrow will be my take it easy day.

By the way, I cannot stress how important it is to hydrate while doing physical activity. You really do need water and liquids when doing working out or doing strenuous activity.

So, let me recap my weekly goals for last week. I ended up not studying for chemistry because I am still on the wait list. I did make flashcards for nomenclature though! I guess that counts as studying. =) I also did call up a friend. It was nice to talk on the phone. I kind of miss the old days when people actually used the phone to talk. I also ended up using the computer pass 9 pm. It's so hard to not use it! I'll do better this week on that.

Anyway, here are this weeks goals.

This past week has been good. I stayed home and relaxed. Here are some pics from the week.

I love pineapple red bean buns. I basically just like the red bean filling! I show this picture because this was from the Chinese store and they actually but TRANS FAT FREE shortening. I was amazed! I guess it's "healthier", you can say.

I also tried making homemade tortillas and I made a chicken brown rice sushi salad.

I also made these whole wheat peanut butter and banana muffins. I'll post the recipe later this week!

It's a lot of food pictures. I'm sorry! Anyway, on Friday, I went to work. But, of course, I went to Fluid to get some food to eat at work. I went in and they saved me a veggie burrito (they ran out when I went in last week). That was so nice of them. That's why I love going there (and the fact that their food tastes amazing!). They even had my name on the paper wrapping the burrito. =)

This was just half of the burrito. There was zucchini, pesto, eggs, potatos and some other things I don't remember. It was so good though! And, I ate a whole wheat chocolate chip cookie. Their chocolate chip cookies are the bomb! I also love that they have organic free-trade coffee.

I am now officially CPR certified! I got it yesterday! =)

Before getting it though, I went to eat breakfast at McDonalds. I got the egg white delight and took out the ham. I don't like ham.

And, of course, I got coffee. I have to have my cup of coffee every morning. The sandwich was just decent. I don't like eating breakfast any McDonald's but my family eats their once in a while. I usually just get coffee whenever I'm with them but I decided to try this because it has egg whites. Their's also cheese too. The sandwich tasted alright.

The CPR class was very informative. It's good to learn some new skills.

So, how was your week?

Do you have any plans for Labor Day?

Weekly Goals + Updates

Happy Sunday everyone. How are you guys today?

I'm doing fine, thank you very much. I ran 11 miles again this morning and it felt great. Well, not really. Last week's run was much better. I tend to get stomach issues on long runs, when I run on an empty stomach and when I eat a snack at least an hour before my run. Do you guys have any suggestions?

Anyway, let's go over my last week's goals. For one thing, I did try a new food. It was some sort of Chinese vegetable. As for randomly doing squats and push-ups, I did them but not everyday. And, I did get ready for school (for the most part). I have most of my textbooks and I bought a lab coat to use for one of my classes. By the way, here's a tip for buying textbooks in college. The school bookstore overprice their books. Try buying them online or renting them (especially if you don't plan on using the book after the class). If the book is used for a class for your major, maybe it's best to buy and keep it.

So, here are this weeks goals.

Hopefully, I can do this!

And here are a few eats.

This is the Skinny Cow chocolate. I received a coupon in the mail, so I decided to try it out. Even though I love chocolate and sweets, this was a bit too sweet for my tastes.

I bought this veggie English muffin breakfast sandwich from Fluid on Friday. It has eggs, veggies and pesto sauce. It was so good!

Yesterday, I went to McDonald's. Yes. I can't believe it but I did. I decided to try their grilled sweet chili chicken wrap. I wish there was more filling in the wrap. I won't be buying it again. I did like the sauce though.

I guess that's it for now. Be on the lookout for this recipe later on this week!

How was your weekend?
Do you like wraps or are you more of a sandwich person?
For me, it just depends on my mood.
