Fitness Friday

Happy Friday everyone! How was your Thanksgiving? Mine was pretty nice and relaxing, except for the Black Friday shopping yesterday (or should I say Black Thursday?). My Thanksgiving started off with my own workout routine and eating breakfast. Then, I went on a walk with my extended family around the downtown area. It was pretty nice and the weather was perfect!

After, I went to Walmart to get some Black Thursday deals. Yes, I am calling it Black Thursday because it was Thursday, not Friday, that we shopped! We got some really good deals there! Ha. Serves us right for getting there early. We were lucky that the lines weren't that long at the check-out for us .We rushed through the store and everything. We made it in time for our family potluck dinner, which was pretty nice. I usually bake some sweets but I didn't get to this year because of the shopping. My dad dragged me along so that he wouldn't have to wait too long to get all the special deals Walmart was offering. Oh well. No one missed the sweets (except for my twin cousins, who could eat 10 cookies at once). I am thinking people in my family are trying to eat healthier now, which is a great thing!

Anyway, today's post is suppose to be about my workouts and such. As you have noticed, I've been running less and adding different things into my routine. I want to see if doing less running but doing other things will help improve my physique. We will see though.

How as your Thanksgiving?
How were your workouts this week?

Black Friday Shopping, McDonald's Premium Classic Grilled Chicken Sandwich Review, and my day today

Hey hey everyone. How are you guys doing today? As you know, today is the day after Black Friday shopping. How many of you guys actually went Black Friday shopping? This includes waiting in line at midnight (or late Turkey day evening) and shopping later on in the day on Friday. Well, I actually did. We bought a treadmill, which is awesome. And then, at night, we went to Kohl's, Wal-Mart and Old Navy. At Kohl's, I got boots for $20. They were originally around $60.
I didn't buy anything from Wal-Mart, but we did eat at the McDonald's they had in there. I got the Premium Classic Grilled Chicken Sandwich, coffee and I ate half of my brother's medium fries.

I actually liked this sandwich. The bun actually tasted good, like a regular fluffy hearty dinner roll. I really liked it and I would eat it by itself. Surprising, the chicken was moist and tender. It was like real chicken. I was surprised. If I ever have to eat at McDonald's again, I'm ordering this. But next time, I may ask them to substitute the mayo or not add any at all.

At Old Navy, I bought a tank top. That's about it. We looked at the sweaters, which were cheap, but the sizes for the sweaters are always a bit on the large size. I need an extra small, which is rare. The tank tops fit just fine though.

Then, today, I went to Six Flags with my cousins. It was fun but most of the rides were closed since it's the Holiday Season. They mainly opened just to show how they decorated the park. It was nice though and the dolphin show was nice. It kind of sucked because we only went on 4 rides, but it was fun to hang out with my cousins. We, of course, went on Medusa.

After that, we went out to eat at a Chinese Restaurant, which was fun. The food was delicious.

What have you guys done so far this weekend?
What did you guys buy on Black Friday?

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I hope you guys had a great turkey day. I know I had a good one.
For one thing, I spent most of the day with my cousins, aunts and uncles. It was really nice. In the afternoon, we all walked along the river, talked and had a great time.
Then, at night time, we all had a potluck. I baked pumpkin pie to bring (I will post the recipe tomorrow!).  Everyone else brought Chinese dishes. Well, at least there was turkey. That's how my family's Thanksgiving Dinner's are. Turkey and Chinese dishes. It's nice though but sometimes, I want to eat sweet potato casserole. I love my family though. We all have someone to talk to and rely on. It's a really nice feeling. We've all managed to stick together.
However, literally right after eating dinner tonight, people left for Black Friday shopping. I don't blame them. I mean, the TV's are pretty cheap. Other than that, I'd wait for another sale to buy other items. I guess it's just for the experience.

Anyway, I'm thankful for many things. Here's a few of the many things I'm thankful for:

1. My loving family
2. My friends
3. music
4. coffee
5. delicious food
6. life
7. health
8. my internship

So, what are you guys thankful for?

Happy Thanksgiving!!! Mini Pumpkin Pie.

Happy Thanksgiving you guys! Happy Turkey Day. 感恩节快乐! Feliz Día de Gracias. Today was such a nice day. Yes, I am posting this kind of late, but hey. I was busy. So, Thanksgiving was okay. I stayed home all day, and I baked bread to bring to the family potluck. Everyone loved them.
I also baked these mini pumpkin pies. As you see, they look ugly (epic fail). That's why I didn't bring them. They tasted okay though. I like the Costco pumpkin pie a lot better. The filling is good, the crust is terrible. I should have used a pre-made crust instead of making one from scratch. I tried using a sugar cookie base for this pie, but, it didn't turn out. Lesson learned Use premade crust. The filling was really good though. So, I'll just give you guys the recipe for the filling.
This also reminds me of the egg tarts I made. The egg custard was the best I've ever had, but, the crust didn't turn out so good. So, I guess I'm just not a crust making person. Oh well. I will post the egg tart recipe, well, the egg custard part. Once I get the crust right, I will post that too. But, for now, the pumpkin pie filling. :)

Ingredients:
  • 1 can pumpkin puree (15 oz)
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 oz)
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground all spice
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
Directions:
  1. Mix all the above ingredients together. If you are making mini pumpkin pies, preheat the oven to 425 F, let it bake for 15 min, the lower the temp to 350 and continue baking for 25 min.
  2. If you want to make it crustless, I would play around with it. I would still bake it at 425 F for 15 min, and then lower it to 350. However, I don't know how long to bake it at 350. I assume around 40 minutes. Just keep checking on it.
