Trail Mix Recipe, Meal Planning, and Food Reviews!

Hola todos! I feel so accomplished today because I actually created a meal plan today. It's part of the Elf 4 Health Challenge. I haven't created a meal plan before but I must say, I think it will help. You know what you will eat so you don't have to stress about what meals to eat. Also, you get to save money once you know what your meals are. You don't have to spend extra money on necessary food. Here's my plan. It also includes my workout plan.

All the Elfer's like my way of creating a plan. I posted it in our group and people like it. I'm so happy and thankful for your guy's support. It's really a great community. It helps me keep on track with my eating and fitness.

I had a great elf for the first 2 weeks of the challenge: Samantha, who writes the blog Running and Cupcakes. We chatted and kept each other on track with our challenges. We shared ideas and helped each other out. =)

I also went shopping today for the plan and I bought some things to make trail mix with too. From my last post, you know that I've been craving craisins, nuts and dark chocolate. Trail mix, basically. So, here's what I bought.

I bought Clif Bars too. I love Clif Bars. I bought a new flavor I haven't tried yet. The Oatmeal Raisin Walnut Clif Bar. I hope it tastes good. We'll see.

So, here's the recipe for the trail mix I made. I pre-portioned them into small plastic bags so that I don't overeat them. They're about 140 calories for 1/4 cup.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup mixed nuts
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries (craisins)
  • 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips
Directions:
  1. Place all the ingredients into a bowl.
  2. Mix them together.
  3. Separate them into 8 small plastic bags. Each bag should contain 1/4 cup servings. Enjoy.
I made mines with a few simple ingredients. I know some people may like adding M&M's, raisins, and other things but I like keeping it simple and natural. Go ahead and add other things if you want. Enjoy.

Now, for the reviews. I ate the Kashi Soft Baked Chocolate Squares and the LUNA Bar Vanilla Almond. Both tasted so good.

Kashi Soft Baked Chocolate Squares:
I received this free sample in the mail. And, guess what. These tasted so much like fudge brownies. They were chewy, chocolatey and soft. They didn't crumble like I thought they would, based on the ingredients they had. I give this a thumbs up on taste, texture and ingredients. I just don't like the calorie amount. 160 calories.

LUNA Bar Vanilla Almond

This bar tasted like a regular LUNA Bar. I didn't really taste the almonds much. I was looking forward to tasting the almonds. I mean, it tastes good, but it's nothing special.

Anyway, what's your favorite snack?
Do you plan your meals for the week?
