Revolt With Reason

Are you in SoCal and love music? Then, come to the House of Blues!

My friend, Tyler's band, Revolt With Reason, will be playing this Thursday, August 1st, at the famous House of Blues in Hollywood. This just so happens to be during the opening night of the Sunset Strip Music Festival!

The whole show starts at 7:00pm in the Voodoo Lounge stage.
Revolt With Reason goes on at 10:20 PM.

The address is:  8430 Sunset Blvd West Hollywood, California 90069

I'm so happy for them. It's a big step for them in their music career. Congrats! You guys are making it big, Tyler, Kevin, Alex, Matt and Andy.

What's more awesome is that Kevin, the bassist, will be backing Richard Rauda on his set at 8pm. You don't want to miss it!

They're going to rock the house. =)

Be sure to check out their facebook page!

Revolt With Reason at Davis

Last night was so much fun! Revolt With Reason made it NorCal and performed at Davis. Fortunately for me, I was able to make it to support them and watch their performance.

They performed at the Rosetta Cafe, a small coffee shop in Davis. The performance was outside though. It was part of a music program it was having.

The only thing I can really say is that they were awesome! They rocked the house. Alex started off with a solo while the rest of the band was setting up. He's really good. Then, the whole band performed, with Tyler as the lead singer. They performed the song, "What Can I Say" first and it was awesome. Here's the video I took with my phone.

They performed a number of songs and I really enjoyed it. Tyler was just awesome, Alex rocked his solos, Kevin knows how to work that bass, and Matt can play that saxophone (I tried learning to play the sax before but it didn't turn out so good).

Here's another recording I took of a different song they performed.

I really have to say, I really enjoyed last night. We chatted after the performance. They had a long week of touring. LA, San Diego, San Francisco and now Davis. That's a lot of driving. They finally got to see the Golden Gate Bridge too, which I've been to a few times. I'm glad that they're having a great time.

Here are a few pictures.

This is a blurry picture of Kevin, Tyler and Alex at the cafe after the performance. Sorry for the bad quality. My phone wasn't cooperating with me for some reason for this picture.

This is of me and Tyler. We tried taking a regular picture and a serious picture...My serious face didn't turn out so good.

There are other pictures too. There was also a huge group photo with everyone at the performance. There was also a photo of the people that go to the same school as me that attended the event. I'm sure the pictures will be on their facebook page sooner or later.

That's it for now!

Go check out their music. =)

Life

I've decided that I will start training for a half marathon. Me actually running in the race, I'm not quite sure yet. I still have about a month to decide before I have to sign up.

In the meantime, I have one more week of summer classes left. It's finals. Wish me luck. Also, my grandparents are here, visiting from Canada. I'm so happy that they're here. They come to visit once a year. We went to Hearst Castle with them last week. It's nice talking to them and them giving me words of wisdom. They're really great.

I also bought a few things the past couple days and I will try telling you guys what I bought by putting it into categories.

Food:

I bought this at Taylor's Market. Well, I bought the Mocha Dark Chocolate Bar and a knock-off Nutella that's organic. I bought the Honey Oat Granola Cereal at the Farmer's Market at school and it's delicious! I eat it with Toasted Honey Oats (basically, Honey Nut Cheerios) and soymilk. The knock-off nutella is so good too! It was a bit expensive though but a little goes a long way. The chocolate bar was alright. Noccioloata Organic Hazelnut Spread with Cocoa & Milk is the name of the knock-off nutella. The chocolate bar is the Scharffen Berger Brand.

I went to the mall yesterday with mis primas and I bought this at Milo's Grill for lunch. It's the Veggie Gyro with sweet potato fries. It was awesome! The pita bread itself was good and the fries were crispy and yummy.

We spent 8 hours at the mall. I know, 8 hours. But, we rarely get to hang out like this! It's actually our first time hanging out as a group outside of the full family gatherings. One of mis primas knows how to dress for my body type and found this blue dress for me.

I mean, it looks a lot better on me in person than it does in the picture. It's strapless. It's a long blue dress. I didn't think it would look good on me but you know what? It makes my 5ft 2 frame look even taller and it looks really nice on me. I just have to wear shoes with heels and it's all good. Maybe I will post a picture of me wearing this one day. I will be sure to link back to this post if I do.

At the mall, there was also this cupcake stand called Esther's Cupcakes. They had a Caramel Macchiato flavor that I really wanted to try. I decided not to buy it because it was $2.75 for a cupcake. Expensive! Then again, I rarely go to the mall that we went too. I'll buy it next time for sure! I love things coffee.

In an unrelated note, I've been trying to find products that work well with my face that uses as much natural ingredients as possible.

I bought the Yesto Tomatoes Daily Clarifying Cleanser, a Benzoyol Peroxide Solution (for acne), Yesto Tomatoes Daily Pore Scrub and the Yesto blemish clearing facial towelettes. I really hope these products work. I'll give you guys updates on this!

I guess that's it for now.

Do you guys like shopping at the mall (uhh..I don't know why I'm asking this)?
What's your favorite mall food?

P.S.

Revolt with Reason has been doing a California Tour.

They are going to perform in San Luis Obispo on Tuesday, July 16, 2013. They will be performing at Linnaea's Cafe at 7pm.

They will be performing in San Francisco later on during the week. I'll post updates!

Revolt With Reason: Interview With Tyler Church

Let me go ahead and introduce Tyler Church, the lead singer and guitarist of the band Revolt With Reason.

Tyler Church is a 19 year old student that attends Sac State University, where I also attend.  He's from Palmdale, California, which is in the SoCal area.  He's studying nursing at Sac State. I admire those that want to become a nurse. The actual job is a lot of work, physically and mentally. Sorry that I got off topic, but yea. He's also the lead singer and guitarist for Revolt With Reason (as I've mentioned already)

He started learning to play guitar at 13 years old and as you can see, his skills have come a long way. He was more than happy to be interviewed for my blog. Gracias, amigo. =)

So, here's the interview. Enjoy. =)

Did you learn something new about Tyler or about the band?
Do you have any questions you want to ask about him or the band?

Revolt With Reason is an alternative Rock Band and they released their first album, We're Not What We Seem, in December. They will be performing at Butler's Coffee this Saturday, March 30, at 7 pm. Come check them out. They're an amazing band.

Melanie Devaney will also be preforming at this time. So, you get two shows for free. It's suggested that you buy Butler's Oreo Shakes (I hear that it's delicious!). Get there early if you want a good seat. =)

Revolt With Reason

From left to right: Kevin Church, Matthew Short, Tyler Church,  Alex Del Rio,  Andy Sall

Revolt with Reason. There's always a reason to revolt, right?

Well, in this case, this is a revolution with music.

Formed in 2009, Revolt with Reason is an alternative rock band from Palmdale, California, in the Los Angeles area. Their friendship and their common love of music is what brought them together.

Tyler Church, mi amigo, is the lead singer and lead guitarist of the crew. He has such an amazing voice. It's soothing, mellow and yet has an umph to it.

His twin brother, Kevin Church, is the bassist.

Alex Del Rio is the guitarist.

Andy Sall is the drummer. He rocks the beat to the music.

Matt Short is the saxophone player.

They started off playing at local venues such as coffee shops, parties, churches, and many other places. Now, they hope to tour California this summer. I really hope they can. They are musically talented.

They spent so much time and energy into raising money for their band in hopes of touring and producing their first album, "We're Not What We Seem". Well, their hard work paid off because "We're Not What We Seem" was just released last month, December 27, 2012. In it includes 5 songs:

  1. True Blue
  2. What Can I say
  3. Lullaby
  4. Jade
  5. We're Not What We Seem
You can listen to their songs here. (click on the sentence!) You can also purchase their album on Amazon (which would be much appreciated!).

They also released a demo EP called "Branch by Branch" in 2011.

I really enjoy their music. I love their mellow rock tunes. They created their own unique sound with it, which I like. You can really tell they put their heart into their music just by the way they play their music.
I love all of their songs but my favorite would have to be True Blue. There's just something about it that I like.

All of their songs are about love and being heartbroken. I guess it's a theme but it's something that everyone can relate to.

Listen to their music yourselves and you'll find yourself enjoying listening to it.

An interview with the lead singer, Tyler Church, will be up sometime next month. Be on the lookout if you want more information on this amazing band!
